Job Summary

This position oversees the delivery of patient care and customer service through the coordination of treatment plans, supervision of staff, maintenance of quality control, and safety processes of the University of Utah School of Dentistry’s Ogden Dental Clinic. Representative challenges of this position will include operating within budgetary constraints, ensuring an exceptional patient experience, and overseeing the daily operations of a dental clinic that has a variety of general and specialist dentists.

Essential Functions

Oversees the delivery of patient care and customer service, ensuring the timely resolution of concerns.

Supervises all aspects of operations for this clinic. Responsible for managing to the budget.

Ensures that faculty and staff follow School of Dentistry policies and internal workflows.

Analyzes and determines appropriate staffing to support clinical services while ensuring clinic efficiency and maximizing resources.

Must be comfortable and trained to undertake various direct patient care activities when needed.

Organizes and conducts monthly staff meetings, sets staff goals, and regularly evaluates staff performance.

Conceptualizes team building opportunities and staff productivity during clinic down-time.

Ensures regulatory measures are followed to guarantee a safe environment for patients and staff.

Monitors equipment/instruments performance and promptly reports any equipment/intruments failures or necessary repairs.

Orders consumable materials and supplies for the clinic and oversees maintenance of all equipment.

Participates in meetings and serves as liaison between Providers and Staff and School of Dentistry Administration.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Extensive knowledge of dental treatment workflows, and the ability to provide care as described in the School of Dentistry policies and procedures manual.

Proficient leadership skills—including effective communication.

Demonstrated knowledge of dental clinical operations.

Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

Ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes and strategize improvement of processes.

Able to prioritize and multi task in a fast paced environment—efficient time management is essential.

Ability to develop strong working relationships with patients, faculty, and staff.

Comments

Monday – Friday (8am – 5pm) shifts with varying hours (nights and weekends) as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency required. Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
