The University of Utah School of Dentistry seeks to recruit a clinician, scholar, educator and clinical administrator of distinction for the position of Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Patient Care. The individual appointed will also qualify for and be appointed to, or may already hold, a faculty position of any rank in either the career or the tenure-line within the University of Utah. The appointee will, through his or her leadership contributions, ensure the continued excellence and ongoing evolution of the School’s programs in patient care and education, and will by supporting the ongoing excellence of the clinical program also ensure a robust clinical infrastructure and operation in support of clinical research. The School seeks applicants with insights and vision for partnering with other primary health care professionals to improve both oral and overall health for all patients.

Now in its seventh year, the University of Utah School of Dentistry is the first new dental school within a research-intensive university health science center in the US in recent decades. An integral element of University of Utah Health, the School has an already robust and rapidly-growing clinical network at eight geographically dispersed sites throughout the State of Utah primarily focused on care for the under-served; strong research programs in several areas of distinction; and outstanding predoctoral dental and general practice residency programs.

The individual appointed as Associate Dean will have the rights and privileges of a faculty appointee at the University of Utah; will have a principal physical location at the Ray and Tye Noorda Oral Health Sciences Building on the University of Utah campus; and will spend 100% of his or her non-clinical time providing oversight to the School’s clinical operations throughout Utah. An active clinical dentist, the Associate Dean will have the opportunity to continue to be engaged in patient care, in educational activity, and in clinical research. A requirement for appointment will be eligibility for a Utah dental license.

The Associate Dean will report directly to the Dean, and will serve in his or her administrative position with the approval and at the pleasure of Dr. Michael Good, Senior Vice President for Health Sciences, University of Utah.
