University of Utah Division Chief of Pediatric Endocrinolog in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine has initiated a nationwide search for an innovative academic pediatric endocrinologist to serve as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes. The Division Chief will define and execute the strategy needed to fulfill the mission of providing outstanding pediatric medical care and education for children with diabetes and other endocrine-related diagnoses, performing high-quality research that advances childrens health, and in educating the next generation of pediatric endocrinologists and other healthcare professionals to practice innovative, evidence-based medicine. The Division Chief will lead a well-established division within the Department of Pediatrics and the University of Utah School of Medicine, in collaboration with Intermountain Healthcares Primary Childrens Hospital (PCH), a free-standing tertiary care pediatric hospital in an integrated healthcare delivery system. The Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Division currently consists of 5 full-time and 4 part-time faculty members, and 3 advanced care practitioners focused on medical management of children with diabetes and other endocrine-related diagnoses on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. The Division also provides education to pediatric, surgical and internal medicine fellows and residents. The Division Chief will actively participate in the strategic planning processes of both the Department and PCH, and will be responsible for defining and executing the strategy to fulfill the Divisions clinical, research, education, administration and advocacy goals and activities. This includes, but is not limited to, coordination and leadership of the overall academic agenda and health services, assuring the quality of the intellectual and clinical missions, and monitoring the fiscal health of the Division in coordination with the Department of Pediatrics Chair and the Associate Chair for Administration and Finance. The successful candidate will be a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics with subspecialty certification in Pediatric Endocrinology. She/he will be an accomplished academician recognized in the field of Pediatric Endocrinology who demonstrates academic leadership and administrative capabilities, and the ability to lead an active pediatric division within a large department at a major public university, and which operates within the childrens hospital in an integrated healthcare delivery system. The selected candidate must meet the requirements for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine on the Clinical or Tenure Track.
