Description: The University of Utah Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking applicants for the section chief position of Nuclear Medicine. This individual is expected to make a significant impact in the field of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging by leading the team and contributing to a collegial environment that will promote the academic and clinical growth of the Nuclear Medicine section. The candidate is expected to provide high quality clinical services; initiate research projects; actively engage in teaching for residents and fellows; participate in quality improvement and value initiatives; and assist section members to excel in their academic missions. The academic appointment will be at a rank of Associate or Full Professor. Depending on the candidate’s academic experience, a departmental leadership position will also be considered.
Qualifications: The candidate should be board-certified by ABNM and/or ABR /NR and have the status of Authorized User of radioisotopes. The candidate should currently be appointed as Assistant Professor or at a higher rank. The candidate should have a substantial experience in the operations of Nuclear Medicine and/or radiology. Outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite. The candidate with experience in all aspects of Nuclear Medicine practice including therapies and procedures. This individual should have a strong academic interest and prior evidence of research productivity. Active engagement in investigational research and extramurally funded research projects are desired.
Facilities: The Nuclear Medicine section provides clinical services at the University Hospital and Clinics, Huntsman Cancer Center, and VA medical center. Extensive imaging resources, including 3 new PET -CT scanners, SPECT -CT, and cyclotron / radiochemistry laboratory are available within the network for clinical work and research. Pre-clinical imaging resources, such as micro PET - MRI , micro SPECT -CT, micro PET , and 7T MRI , are available at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and in the main campus. In addition, multiple 3T MRI scanners are available for clinical and research work in the department. Research opportunities abound within the University, supported by the Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research ( UCAIR ) in the Department and the Center for Quantitative Cancer Imaging ( CQCI ) in the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
