Work Schedule Summary
40 hours per week (1.00 FTE ), Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; 3 days minimum will be required on-site. The schedule is somewhat flexible depending on clinic needs.

The Pediatric Cardiology Division in the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Nurse Navigator/Clinical Nurse Coordinator. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse who can multitask, coordinate efforts among many cross-functional teams, and educate, advocate, and navigate pediatric cardiology patients and families through our medical system. We are looking for someone with an interest in cardiology that can work in a fast-paced environment while still providing quality care to pediatric patients. The incumbent will coordinate care for patients seen in pediatric cardiology clinics as well as act as the central point of contact between outside providers and the division to help move forward planned electrophysiology and catheterization procedures. The Pediatric Cardiology Division is based at the Primary Children’s Outpatient Services Building, just west of Primary Children’s Hospital, on the benches overlooking Salt Lake City. 1.Address patient concerns/questions received via electronic message or phone message
2.Follow-up on patient lab work if applicable
3.Call in patient prescriptions/renewals
4.Propose physician orders
5.Coordinate follow-up studies and obtain results
6.Aid in sub-specialist referral
7.Follow-up with patients by telephone after missed clinic appointments, etc.
8.Other duties as assigned to support the needs of the Division
1.Manage the outside referral process for the Division, obtain provider and patient/family feedback to ensure excellent patient and provider experience
2.Assist families with appointment coordination and navigation of medical system
3.Collaboratively plan and implement process improvement projects related to care navigation
4.Provide family/patient education related to upcoming cardiac procedures
5.Assist families with billing questions as needed

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.
Often: Infectious disease, oils ( there is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids ), hazards ( includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals ).
Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required

Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking, standing.
Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah; two years general nursing experience. Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card or obtain one within one month of hire. Demonstrated teaching, leadership, human relations and effective communication skills required. One year of directly related experience in area of specialty is preferred. Some positions may require additional certifications such as ACLS , PALS or NRP within one year of hire.
