Position: PATIENT CARE SPECIALIST

Location : SALEM AND PROVO
The Patient Care Specialist is an extremely important part of Revere Health and the patient care team. You will provide support with the daily activities of the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Department and work closely with the physician in providing an exceptional patient experience. Excellent customer service and previous medical experience is a must in helping to contribute to the desired atmosphere that is crucial in providing the “exceptional patient experience”.
Exhibits compassion and courtesy towards patients, visitors and co-workers.
Reviews previous x-rays, labs, office notes, and exam results.
Makes pertinent information available to provider before patient visit.
Escorts patients to examination room, assists in obtaining histories and chief complaint, measures vital signs, and records information in patient record.
Updates patient’s QIS information at each visit. Follows-up, updates and completes the QIS reports.
Works with coder in providing information for periodic billing audits.
Follows up on audit results and implements changes where necessary.
Schedules tests and procedures. Is conscientious of keepage and schedules test/procedures in-house accordingly.
Spends 50% of time obtaining pre-authorizations for tests, procedures, injections, etc.
Obtains lab and test results for physician review.
Calls results to patients as directed by physician in a prompt and courteous manner.
Responds to tasks and messages in a timely manner.
Always keeps the patient informed even when there isn’t an answer.
Calls/faxes prescriptions to pharmacies.
Complete UMA credentialing training and testing for Meaningful Use purposes.
Updates all required meaningful use data on every patient at every visit.
Data must be properly entered into the chart to ensure its capture for attestation.
Enters in billing codes and ensures billing slips are completed daily
Attends meetings as required.
Other duties and assignments as required
Preferred Certified Medical Assistant or CNA with experience working in an orthopedic office or other medical office.
Experience working with an electronic medical record.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail oriented and highly organized.
Computer knowledgeable to include MS Office and Outlook.
Excellent customer service skills.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Physical mobility: walking, bending, standing and ability to lift over 50 lbs.
