We counsel, teach and mentor children placed in our care and give each child a chance to make successful changes. At Copper Hills Youth Center, we treat boys and girls who have emotional, behavioral and psychiatric disorders. Our accredited private school allows students to continue their education while receiving treatment. The Essential functions for the Registered Nurse include the following: *Demonstrates understanding of physical, emotional, cultural, religious and psychosocial needs of patients *Identifies, implements and documents patient teaching *Assist in providing a safe, therapeutic environment *Ensure patients receive care as per physician orderes *Administers medications appropriately and documents all data accurately according to facility policy. *Demonstrates knowledge of Nursing Department philosophy, and assumes responsibility for maintaining Standards of Nursing Practice and Standards of Care for all patients *Works without direct supervision, but seeks supervision from immediate supervisor for complex issues that arise *Serves as primary channel of communication between shifts, for patient care unit, and between departments during designated scheduled shift *Prioritizes nursing care interventions according to individual patient and overall unit milieu needs *Responds with therapeutic interventions to disruptive behavior disorders *Professionally collaborates with all staff members to facilitate coordinated contribution to patient care; maintains continuity of patient care *Participates and attends treatment planning as needed *Serves as a role model for patients to observe and learn more socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors *Participates in the development of patient's problem solving abilities *Intervenes in crisis situations, using propoer techniques, to promote positive growth and development and seeks to reduce dysfunctional patterns of behavior *Identifies verbal and non-verbal cues for potential aggressive behavior and applies de-escalation techniques to situation *Intervenes in medical emergencies including proper notification of administration, physicians, primary therapist, and familyEducation-Experience: *Registered Nurse graduate of an accredited school of nursing with State of Utah RN license *At least 2 years experience in the nursing field is preferred. Experience in mental health field preferred but not required. *Must be CPR certified *Valid State Drivers license required *Must be at least 21 years of age
